BRITTOp ACCREDITED FORKLIFT TRAINING

LGS Transport Training provides fully accredited forklift and Mechanical Handling operator training for both novices (having never operated a forklift before) and experienced operators who require qualification or refresher training.


We train Counterbalance, Reach and Telescopic handler lift truck operators at our training centre. We are also able to train Mobile Elevated Work Platform (Boom and Scissor lift) on our site. We are able to train Counterbalance, Reach, Side Loader, Telescopic Handler, Pivot Steer, Very Narrow Aisle (Man Up), Order Picker, Multi Directional, and Pallet Truck, as well as Lorry Mounted Crane, Gantry Crane, Slinger/Signaller Vehicle Mounted Lift Truck (Moffett), Mobile Elevated Work Platform (Boom and Scissor lift) at customers’ premises.


We are able to train staff in safe Manual Handling techniques, providing bespoke training to suit individual industry needs.

We instruct staff on safety techniques when working at heights. This can vary from working on ladders to high platforms and scaffolding.

  • Novice: For individuals who have no experience whatsoever of operating any kind of lift truck
  • Experienced: For the experienced operator who has practical experience although has never received any formal training or qualification
  • Refresher: This course is designed for operators who wish to refresh their certification following expiry
  • Conversion: For certificated operators of other types of lift truck need only a 2 day conversion to move over to counterbalance

TOW TUG TRAINING

Tow tugs (or tow tractors) are designed primarily for towing single or multiple trailers. Used widely in transport applications and the motor industry, tow tugs enable large amounts of goods to be moved at the same time to common or multiple destinations with a single operator.


LGS provides fully accredited operator training for novices and experienced operators on all types of tow tugs as well as refresher and conversion training, from other truck types or capacities.


Tow Tractor Training Course Objectives

 

By the end of the course the operator should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the towing capacity of tow tractor.
  • Carry out a pre-start inspection.
  • Operate safely under varying site conditions.
  • Carry out minor adjustments and routine service.
  • Travel (forward and reverse) with laden and unladen trailers.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of responsibilities under relevant legislation.
  • Operate machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers manual and instructions and accepted good practice.

MOBILE PLANT OPERATOR TRAINING IN SOMERSET

LGS Transport Training deliver on-site training for mobile plant and machinery operators.

We are able to train 180° and 360° Excavator, Articulated and Rigid Dump Truck, Loading Shovel and Tandem Roller.

This course helps the candidates to learn how to safely and effectively operate mobile plant machinery and, upon successful completion of training including practical and theory tests, will receive an accredited certificate by ITSSAR (Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register), who are recognised nationwide.



The course itself consists of theory lessons and practical demonstrations containing exercises, all supported by the use of power point presentations and safety DVDs detailing:


  • An Introduction to Health and Safety in the Construction Industry
  • Introduction to machine
  • Controls and instruments
  • Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems
  • Trenching, back-filling, levelling and marking out
  • Excavating deep and shallow excavation
  • Other associated construction activities
  • Explanation of attachments

 

At the end of each of these courses, all successful candidates will be able to carry out a pre-shift inspection and operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions and accepted good practice. They will also be able to operate the machine safely under varying site conditions and carry out minor adjustments and routine services. We also ensure that all of your employees have a thorough understanding of their responsibilities under current and relevant health and safety legislation.

 

On completion of the course, the successful candidates will be issued with an ITSSAR certificate and be registered on the Training Operator Passport Scheme (TOPS), which proves the candidates have passed the full ITSSAR theory and practical technical tests. A TOPS card is also available at an additional charge.

ABRASIVE WHEELS AWARENESS TRAINING IN SOMERSET

This training course is aimed at anyone who selects, mounts or uses abrasive wheels. The course covers different types of abrasive wheel, diamond blades, pre-use inspection to wheels and tools, hazards, correct PPE, fire control, regulations, correct cutting/grinding techniques and correct selection of wheels.
