REFRESHER COURSES

If you have not driven an HGV, LGV vehicle for a while, then we can also offer fully structured refresher courses to refresh your skills and knowledge and help you to regain your confidence. Ensuring that you meet the standards required to drive as a professional within the UK and Europe.

If you have previously worked as an HGV, LGV driver and gained all the relevant qualifications but are now looking to return to the profession, you do not have to retake the full qualifications again, but you will need to bring your Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) up to date and ensure that your licence is still valid and renew it if it has expired.

If you originally obtained your HGV, LGV Licence before 10th September 2009 or Bus Licence before 10th September 2008, you will need to either:-

• Complete 35 hours of Driver CPC Training
• Take and pass the Driver CPC part 2 (case studies) and the Driver CPC part 4 (practical demonstrations)

However, if you have already taken parts 2 and 4 of the Driver CPC tests, you cannot re-take them, so you will need to undertake the 35 hours of Driver CPC Training instead.

If you originally obtained your HGV Licence on or after 10th September 2009 or Bus Licence on or after 10th September 2008, you will need to:-

• Complete 35 hours of Driver CPC Training
• Any training that you have completed within the last 5 years will count towards the total

Once you have completed the extra training or tests required, your new Driver CPC card will be sent to the address on your driving licence. You must then ensure that you carry your CPC card with you at all times when driving professionally, otherwise you can receive a fixed penalty for driving without it.
